Lions Winning Playoff Game Listed as Bold 2023 NFL Prediction
Supporters of the Detroit Lions have heard it all regarding the team's lack of playoff success.
The organization hasn't won a playoff game in five decades, with the last win coming all the way back in 1991.
With Detroit general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell forging their own path, the team is poised to take another step forward this upcoming season.
Last season, the team finished the season winning eight of its final 10 games, paving the way for expectations to rise for the 2023 season.
In a recent list of bold 2023 NFL predictions, CBS Sports explained why Detroit's talented roster would appear in the postseason and secure its first playoff victory since it defeated the Dallas Cowboys in 1991.
NFL writer Jeff Kerr explained, "Detroit is well positioned to win the NFC North for the first time in its history (it hasn't won a division title since it was called the NFC Central in 1993). With the uncertainly surrounding the Green Bay Packers in the post-Aaron Rodgers era, the Minnesota Vikings being helter-skelter year-to-year, and the Chicago Bears rebuilding -- the Lions have an excellent opportunity to claim the division and reach the playoffs for the first time since 2016."
With Aaron Rodgers leaving the Packers and the Bears still retooling their roster, Detroit, along with the Vikings, will be in contention to most likely win the NFC North division. The Vikings won 13 regular season games in 2022.
"The Lions will host a playoff game if they win the NFC North, and have a talented roster on both sides of the ball to make some noise in the postseason. Thanks to a weaker NFC, Detroit seems poised to take another step under Dan Campbell in 2023," Kerr added.
