The Detroit Lions are looking to separate from the rest of the NFC North division and earn their first division title since 1991. Their journey to that goal continues Sunday with a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

It's a tough test for the Lions coming off their bye week. Though Los Angeles has been underwhelming with a 4-4 record, its offense has plenty of explosive play-makers.

Wide receiver Keenan Allen headlines the unit, while running back Austin Ekeler is a versatile option out of the backfield. Quarterback Justin Herbert has remained productive despite dealing with an injury to his non-throwing hand.

Herbert has had an exceptional start to his career, totaling 16,115 passing yards to this point in his career.

His toughness and ability to deliver the ball accurately has been a key to his success. This is a skill that Lions coach Dan Campbell is well aware of and looking to stop when the two teams meet Sunday.

“Well, I’ll just start with this, any quarterback that’s had the consistency he’s had – number one, he’s got ability, he’s a smart guy, but man, he’s just – he’s got it. He’s wired right," Campbell said Friday. "He’s tough, he can read the field very well. I know they can put a lot on his plate, the runs, the checks, the audibles and he’s highly competitive. So, it’s – usually if you have all those traits, it’s hard not to be a pretty good player. Those aren’t easy to find. They’re not easy to find. I think that’s one of the reasons our guy’s been pretty good here. Man, he’s wired right, he’s pretty tough, he’s resilient, he’s smart, and usually that leads to pretty consistent play.”
