Veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is expected to make his Ford Field debut in the Detroit Lions preseason contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

According to NFL media, Bridgewater will be under center to start the game.

After signing with Detroit, the veteran signal-caller has showcased his calm demeanor, while at the same time working with the team's young receivers.

On defense, starters C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Cam Sutton and Jerry Jacobs will not see the field, but it is expected that Tracy Walker and Brian Branch are going to

Prior to the game, Detroit's starting offensive line was seen observing warmups, along with veteran lineman Graham Glasgow.

Many of Detroit's starters are not expected to play, as the team looks to evaluate several players on the lower end of the depth chart.

"It's hard. It's always hard to do the balancing act," Dan Campbell told 97.1 The Ticket prior to the game. "The only way to duplicate high intensity movements is to play. But also, that is why we do the joint practices."

Detroit's third-year head coach indicated the work with the Jaguars allowed the starters to get the reps needed to make the week of practice quite worthwhile.

For young wideouts Dylan Drummond and Chase Cota, having a disappointing performance can mean their tenure ending in Motown.

"Somebody like Drummond. He's really caught our eye," said Campbell. "He's got to continue to string those along to have a chance (to make the 53-man roster). Same with (Chase) Cota. You don't have the luxury of a bad day."
