New Fan-Created Lions Logo Goes Viral
Graphic designer Emily Morgan created a new Detroit Lions logo, and shared her creation online.
Over the past couple of days, supporters have weighed in regarding their impression of her interesting new design.
Many have expressed their approval and amazement at Morgan's design talents, while others did not find the alternate logo to be all that appealing.
"That's cool, but it just feels wrong," one supporter shared online.
A Lions blogger shared, "I’ve been against the idea of recreating the Lions logo, but I’d be all in on this."
Special logo to celebrate 90th anniversary
The organization is planning to celebrate the 90th season in franchise history this year, which will, among many things, entail debuting a special logo.
According to the team's website, "Inspiration for the 90th season logo design is an homage to the Lions team logo from the 1960s (1961-1969), which is also honored in the WCF memorial logo and the 60th commemorative season logo. The 90th season logo will be used in-stadium at Ford Field and notably, featured in a jersey patch on the Lions uniform."
The Lions were originally founded in Portsmouth, Ohio, and relocated to Detroit in 1934.
"It is truly amazing that we are celebrating 90 seasons of Lions football," said Lions principal owner Sheila Hamp. "My family is proud to have been associated with the organization for 60 of those years and cherish the relationship the team has with the NFL, the city of Detroit, and our amazing Lions fans around the world. We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with our fans throughout the upcoming season."
