Detroit vs. Everybody: 98 Percent of NFL Experts Pick Lions to Win
The Detroit Lions are 9.5 point favorites to defeat the Carolina Panthers at Ford Field.
Despite Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs not playing this week, the majority of NFL experts believe Detroit's roster can still withstand the injuries sustained by the offense this week to defeat the Carolina Panthers.
According to NFL Pickwatch, 98 percent of NFL analysts are picking the Lions to improve their record on the 2023 season to 4-1 by defeating the winless Panthers at Ford Field.
Despite the Panthers' early season struggles, Detroit's offensive line must still contend with Derrick Brown and Brian Burns this week, who head coach Dan Campbell identified as difference makers for the winless NFC South squad.
Predictions: Panthers-Lions
"Well, (Derrick Brown) 95, that’s part of it. (Brian) Burns, that’s part of it, (Linebacker Frankie) Luvu, that’s part of it. These guys are difference makers. They’re productive rushers, they’re explosive, they’ve got length," said Campbell. "Burns has got speed and then moves off of it. So, I mean they’ve got some dudes. They’ve got some dude and they play hard, they play hard.
"So, yeah, this defense is playing good football right now and this coordinator mixes up his looks, his fronts, his coverages. You’re not going to get the same thing twice. He’s going to keep you guessing. And so, yeah, this defense is playing at a high level.”
Lions veteran quarterback Jared Goff is seeking to rebound from three consecutive games tossing an interception.
"You’ve got to be smart with it. I’ve had three. Two of them were bad throws, one was a bad decision. Try to limit the decision ones," said Goff. "Those are the ones that really sting, but yeah, just got to take care of the ball better and really limit that is something I’m focused on.”
