NFL Reinstates Jameson Williams, Eligible to Play against Panthers
Jameson Williams is back with the Detroit Lions, and is immediately eligible to play against the Carolina Panthers.
The NFL has reportedly decided to alter its gambling policy, according to multiple reports.
"The NFL and NFL Players Association share a longstanding and unwavering commitment to protecting the integrity of the game," the league said in a statement. "The NFL periodically reviews the gambling policy in consultation with the NFLPA and clubs to ensure it is responsive to changing circumstances and fully addresses this commitment."
Williams was originally suspended for the first six games of the 2023 NFL season, after violating the gambling policy by reportedly betting from a team facility.
The new policy effectively reduces the punishment for gambling inside team facilities from six games to two games; thus, allowing Williams to return to action.
Asked by All Lions, head coach Dan Campbell indicated the focus now is for the team to continue to improve, so that it can be playing its best football in December.
"This is about right where you want to be. I like where we're at, at this point. And, I think our sole focus has to be on improvement," said Campbell. "We still have a lot of things we can clean up. And, if our focus is on staying hungry and just how do we get a little bit better every week, then you're playing your best football when December hits. And, I think that's still the plan. It's always the plan."
