The Detroit Lions are seeking to significantly upgrade the secondary.

From the front office to players on the current roster advocating for players on other teams to join the Lions, there is a clear understanding the team could benefit from upgrading at both the outside and nickel cornerback position.

Here are three players at nickel cornerback the Lions could target in free agency.

Los Angeles Rams Troy Hill

Last season, the Los Angeles Rams agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Browns to acquire the veteran defensive back for a fifth-round pick.

Hill had previously spent time with the Rams and made his way back to the NFC West after one season away.

In 2022, Hill played in 12 games and recorded 67 tackles, one interception, four passes defensed and a PFF grade of 65.4.

While it was not his best statistical season, the 31-year-old could bring the Lions' defense experience and an ability to make plays in the slot.

Pittsburgh Steelers Cameron Sutton

In 2022, the talented defensive back Sutton earned a 72.2 PFF grade, a career-best.

Based on film review, Sutton offers a true ability to play inside or outside in Aaron Glenn's defense.

The 27-year-old defensive back recorded 43 tackles, 15 pass breakups and three interceptions for the Steelers.

According to Spotrac, Sutton's market value could be in the neighborhood of $7.6 million per season.

Atlanta Falcons Isaiah Oliver

The 26-year-old is a big, long defensive back with a lengthy wingspan.

In 2022, the talented defensive back recorded one interception, 28 tackles, five passes defensed in 12 games.

Oliver did not surrender a single touchdown in 2022.

With the Falcons in 2022, his primary position was in the slot, as he recorded 262 snaps as a slot defender, 18 on the outside, 10 on the defensive line, 44 in the box and 15 at free safety.

With the Lions playing a significant amount in man coverage, Oliver could come in and be a low-risk, affordable option for the Lions front office.
