Odds Lions Beat Buccaneers in Week 6
The Detroit Lions are slight favorites to defeat the Tampa Buccaneers in Week 6.
Can the Lions make it four wins in a row Sunday? They'll have a good chance to when they face the 3-1 Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.
Sure, it's a matchup between two one-loss teams. However, there's a reason why Detroit is presently a 3.5-point favorite, despite the fact that it is the road team for this Week 6 contest.
It's because of the fact that the Lions, which have won their last three games by at least 14 points, appear to be the more well-rounded squad.
Detroit enters this non-divisional clash with its one-time NFC Central rival as one of the best offenses in the National Football League. It currently ranks as the No. 4 offense in the league, averaging 29.6 points per game.
While the Baker Mayfield-led Buccaneers don't possess nearly as potent of an offense (21.0 points a game), they are equipped with a top-10 defense. Tampa Bay, which is 3-1 through four games, has allowed just 17.0 points a game thus far (the eighth-best mark in the NFL).
Needless to say, Ben Johnson's offense will be tested on Sunday.
The Buccaneers' defense is littered with several playmakers, including safety Antoine Winfield Jr., defensive lineman Vita Vea and EDGE Shaquil Barrett. Each of the aforementioned players have recorded at least one sack and multiple quarterback hits, and have amassed a Pro Football Focus grade of at least 73.6.
Through four games, Tampa Bay has averaged three sacks per game, tied for the eighth-best mark in the league. Todd Bowles' team is also coming off a three-sack performance in Week 4 against the New Orleans Saints. So, Bowles & Co. should be able to exert a solid pass rush against Lions signal-caller Jared Goff.
Yet, with how good Goff has played through the first five weeks of this season, I don't think he'll be fazed. The veteran passer is coming off a three-touchdown effort against the Carolina Panthers, and is currently PFF's highest-graded QB (90.6 overall).
At this present juncture, I'll give Detroit a 65 percent chance to beat the Buccaneers in this Week 6 tilt.
