Report: Patriots Will Interview Lions Tanner Engstrand for OC Position
The Detroit Lions have many members of their coaching staff that could be coveted by other NFL teams.
According to the NFL Network, the New England Patriots have interest in interviewing Lions pass game coordinator Tanner Engstrand for their vacant offensive coordinator position.
"Engstrand’s name has become a popular one around the NFL thanks to Detroit’s offensive success," Ian Rapoport posted on social media. "Engstrand also worked with Jim Harbaugh earlier in his career."
Detroit's coaching staff and several offensive players have praised Engstrand for his efforts in making Detroit's pass game into one of the most prolific in the National Football League.
“I love Tanner,” star wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown said, via SB Nation. “He’s an awesome guy, awesome coach. He really understands football, he understands the pass game. He’s super detailed when he coaches. He goes through film with us a lot during the season with the wideouts and the tight ends and whatnot.”
Currently, there are two vacant head coaching positions, as the Seahawks and Commanders have yet to decide on their next head coach.
Ben Johnson is the presumed leader in the clubhouse to replace Ron Rivera and join new general manager Adam Peters in Washington.
