3 Players Lions Could Trade at Deadline
The NFL trade deadline – taking place on October 31 – is rapidly approaching, and there's no doubt that Brad Holmes and the Detroit Lions will be buyers.
Yet, Holmes & Co., for the right price, could also be looking to sell off a few of their own pieces.
With that said, let's take a look at three Lions players that could be dealt come Halloween.
EDGE Julian Okwara
It could be the end of the road for Okwara in a Lions uniform.
The fourth-year pro has appeared in just two games thus far this season, due to an arm injury he suffered in Detroit's preseason finale. He also has several players ahead of him at the EDGE position: Aidan Hutchinson, John Cominsky, Charles Harris and his brother Romeo.
Additionally, Julian finds himself on the last year of his rookie deal.
All the above factors make him highly expendable, and could lead to him being dealt at the October 31 NFL trade deadline.

WR Marvin Jones
Jones has not had the most awe-inspiring start to his second stint with the Lions.
Through six games, the veteran receiver has been targeted a total of 10 times, and has accumulated just five receptions for 35 yards and no touchdowns.
Similar to Okwara, Jones also has several players in front of him on Detroit's receivers depth chart. And now with Jameson Williams back in the rotation, Jones has slipped even further back in the Lions' receivers room.
At this present juncture, Jones, who's 33 years old and playing on a one-year deal, doesn't have much of a trade market. However, if Detroit could find a trade partner for Jones, I bet that Holmes, at the very least, would consider dealing the 12th-year pro.
DB Ifeatu Melifonwu
The third-year safety has played in every game so far this season. Yet, the Syracuse product hasn't made much of an impact, and has largely been relegated to special teams snaps. Additionally, he truly hasn't made his presence known since joining the Lions in 2021.
And now, he finds himself playing behind the likes of Tracy Walker and Kerby Joseph in Detroit's crowded defensive backs room.
Melifonwu will be just 25 next season, so he's still young enough to make a name for himself in the NFL. I just don't think it'll come with the Lions.
