Predicting Which Injured Lions Will Suit Up against Packers

Dan Campbell feels optimistic two key players will return against Packers.

The Detroit Lions are hoping to have a couple of their injured players return this week against the Green Bay Packers.

Two key members of the offense returning would certainly aid Detroit's chances of starting 1-0 in the NFC North division.

After Detroit's third-year head coach spoke with reporters, here is a prediction of who could suit up in primetime this week.

Taylor Decker

It is trending in the right direction for Detroit's starting left tackle to suit up and start.

While playing will be painful, Decker has managed pain in the past.

Penei Sewell is coming off a performance, in which he incurred multiple penalties, and the rushing attack took a while to get going against the Falcons.

David Montgomery

The ex-Bears running back is highly motivated to play against the Packers.

Having lost to Green Bay repeatedly, Montgomery is due for a solid performance and red-zone opportunities, should Detroit's offense have success at Lambeau Field.

Emmanuel Moseley

It would be challenging for the offseason free-agent signing to debut this week.

The team is only participating in walkthroughs, and is still discussing how to work in the talented defensive back, once he is cleared to return to action.

"E-man is doing well. It's just a matter of -- Brad (Holmes) and I have talked about that -- is it time or do we wait until next week to see where he's at, since we can't really practice this week, other than full-speed walkthrough," Campbell explained.

If he does debut, his snap count would be limited. He is likely expected to spell starter Jerry Jacobs

Halapoulivaati Vaitai

It is not expected that the veteran offensive lineman will suit up this week. While he avoided an IR stint, it will likely be a couple of more weeks until the starting right guard returns to action.

Jason Cabinda

Detroit's talented fullback popped up on the injury report with a knee injury. While limited in practice, it is not expected that Cabinda will miss game action.

Kerby Joseph

Detroit's young safety may be the player the coaching staff struggles the most to decide on.

With 10 days of rest, it may behoove the team to play it safe, given how well Ifeatu Melinfonwu and Tracy Walker played together against the Falcons.

"Kerby, still, we're kind of in a wait and see here," Campbell said. "We'll know a little bit more today."

At this point, it's likely the team gives the 22-year-old as much time as needed to heal from his hip injury; thus, deciding to sit him down this week.
