Predictions: Jaguars-Lions
The Detroit Lions had a tough week in joint practices against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The speed at the skill positions offered a unique challenge for the Lions on both sides of the ball. However, the starters won't be in action for Detroit heading into the second preseason game.
Teddy Bridgewater will likely get some time leading the offense, and I'm intrigued to see how he performs. Indications are that he was composed during practices, so the game should carry high expectations.
As with the Giants game, I expect the Lions' depth to shine. Many critical position battles will be decided. With how competitive the practices were, this game should go down to the wire. With Bridgewater leading the way early, the Lions should ride their offensive success to a victory Saturday.

No starters. No problems for the Lions.
Detroit has decided to sit its starters for a second consecutive week, in attempt to preserve its first-stringers and give an ample amount of playing time to those still fighting for roster spots.
If I were Lions head man Dan Campbell, I would have made the same decision. As a result of it, Jared Goff and the offensive starters won't see the field Saturday. Yet, it does mean that new Detroit backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will see a healthy dose of reps under center.

This week's contest with the Jaguars will also be a vital test for the likes of wide receiver Chase Cota, EDGE Julian Okwara, wideout Trinity Benson, cornerback Chase Lucas and running back Benny Snell, all of whom are on the roster bubble.
I believe that Bridgewater will make the most of his opportunity and lead the Lions to victory on Saturday over Doug Pederson & Co.

Fresh off a preseason victory over the Giants, Detroit will look to make it two in a row against the Jaguars on Saturday.
For starters, I'm hoping we get to see Teddy Bridgewater under center, as I'm curious to see how the Lions' new backup QB looks in game action.
Meanwhile, Jameson Williams, who is dealing with an injury, is on the shelf. So, look for Detroit to get creative, as it tries to fill the void at receiver.
The Jaguars, like the Lions, are a young team on the rise, so I anticipate they will play hard and take advantage of every opportunity they can.
However, Detroit can counter with smart playmaking and appropriate use of its roster depth. As a result, the Lions will get the job done, improving to 2-0 on the preseason.

Detroit's second preseason game will give the coaching staff a deeper understanding of how certain positions will play out.
Against the Jaguars, Detroit's backup quarterbacks and third-string running backs will be given ample opportunities to make plays.
If Teddy Bridgewater suits up, it will provide the fanbase their first glimpse of how th veteran backup operates in game situations.
Defensively, Julian Okwara and Levi Onwuzurike should continue their stellar play, as they look to take steps forward after two solid weeks of camp practices.
I expect the game to be closer, with Detroit winning in the fourth quarter.
