'Relax, It'll Come': Lions Assistant GM Has Advice for Jahmyr Gibbs
The Detroit Lions do not want to heap a significant ton of pressure onto rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs.
Lions assistant general manager Ray Agnew shared with reporters, prior to rookie minicamp practice, that it is important to keep expectations in check when it comes to Detroit's newest running back.
“There is a lot of pressure (as an early-round draft pick), because you want to prove the people right that pick you. You want to be talented, you want to be there for the team, you want to do the right thing and you want to be a player," Agnew explained. "But, I would just tell him to relax, it’ll come. The game will slow down to you. Your rookie year’s going to be fast, it’s going to be faster than you ever seen. But, I think in today’s game, there’s a little more -- a little bit more of a chance to be successful as a rookie than there was back when I played."
Lions' rookies tour Ford Field
One of the early memories that first-year Lions players experience is their first trip to Ford Field.
Earlier this week, Detroit's 2023 rookie class had the opportunity to visit the Lions' home field, enter the locker room and experience what it is like to make the walk from the locker room to the field.
Linebacker Jack Campbell appears, in a photo shared online, to experience an appreciative moment, being at his future home field for the first time.
Gibbs, defensive back Brian Branch and offensive lineman Colby Sorsdal were also featured in photographs shared by the team this week.
