Saints GM Mickey Loomis 'Caught Off Guard' by Lions Fans

Saints general manager little surprised by supports of Lions fans.

The supporters of the Detroit Lions have become part of the story this season. 

Each week the Lions play on the road, a passionate group of fans have traveled to support the team. 

Fans are organizing where to enjoy their evenings with adult beverages and good food in each town the Lions visit. 

Bourbon Street was reportedly electric and filled with Lions fans over the weekend. 

At the Caesars Superdome, Lions fans took over the lower bowl, much to the surprise of Saints general manager Mickey Loomis. 

"We're used to have a large number of Saints fans at some of our away games. We're not used to having that volume of visiting fans at our games, and so I would say, look, our stadium's sold out on a season basis," Loomis said on WWL Saints Hour. "That's disappointing to have that may tickets that are resold and, you know, given to visiting fans. 

"But I understand the economics of it. I understand that season tickets are expensive and you can't go to every game and so you're gonna pick and choose to sell some," Loomis continued. "But I was a little caught off guard by the volume, as you said, in the lower bowl. That was unusual and, look, I understand it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it."

Detroit next travels on the road this weekend to face the Chicago Bears. 

With ticket prices in Detroit being elevated due to the team's success, many Lions fans purchased tickets to the Bears game earlier this year due to the lower costs at Soldier Field. 

It is expected that a large number of Lions fans will be in Chicago this weekend to again cheer on one of the most popular teams in the NFL
