Sam LaPorta Contract Details Revealed
Second-round NFL draft picks are now making more guaranteed money, based on the recent contracts signed.
Seahawks second-round pick Derick Hall signed his rookie contract just a few weeks ago. For the first time ever, Hall will receive 85 percent of his signing bonus before training camp and an additional $100,000 in guaranteed monies in the fourth year of the agreement.
Detroit's Sam LaPorta seems to also have benefitted from the new contract precedents being negotiated by agents and NFL teams.
The 2023 No. 34 overall pick appears to have secured 20 percent of his fourth year guaranteed, which is an improvement over the guaranteed monies secured by others drafted in the same round in years past.
LaPorta signed a four-year, $9,465,990 contract with the Lions, which includes a $3,884,356 signing bonus, $7,517,173 in guaranteed monies and an average annual salary of $2,366,498.
In his rookie season, the former Iowa Hawkeyes tight end will earn a base salary of $750,000 and a signing bonus of $3,884,356. His cap hit in 2023 will be $1,721,089, and he carries a dead cap hit of $7,517,173.
Throughout the offseason, the talented tight end has acclimated well. He regularly was listed as an OTA standout due to his consistent performances.
