St. Brown Doubtful, Gibbs Questionable, Branch Out against Panthers
The Detroit Lions could be without star wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown against the Panthers Sunday. St. Brown missed his third consecutive practice Friday afternoon.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell indicated the team would know more on Saturday whether the third-year wideout suits up this week.
Several players on the roster are listed as questionable this week, but are expected to play against the Panthers, including Taylor Decker, Emmanuel Moseley and Josh Reynolds.
Jahmyr Gibbs popped up Friday on the injury report, and is listed as questionable to suit up.
Campbell was asked about the first person he would consider moving to nickel cornerback, as Brian Branch has been ruled out. Campbell answered with cornerback Jerry Jacobs' name.
Detroit's third-year head coach indicated Will Harris is a likely candidate to replace Branch, too. Harris has played significantly more reps at that position than Jacobs.
"Will’s somebody we’ve got a lot of trust in, he’s banked a lot of nickel reps," Campbell said. "And, there again, Will, not only to be able to play nickel, outside corner, safety in a pinch, he’s just got so much versatility for us. So, that’s good."
Also of note, Moseley could for a few reps play opposite of Jacobs, giving starter Cam Sutton rest on occasion.
