Report: Three AFC Teams Have Strong Interest in Jamaal Williams

Jamaal Williams is drawing interest from the AFC in free agency.

Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams is drawing interest from several AFC teams, ahead of the official start of free agency.

According to GoLongTD.com, the Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets are all "very interested" in the veteran running back.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh recently addressed how the Jets could approach the upcoming free agency signing period.

"You probably should ask Joe (Douglas) that question," Saleh recently told reporters, when asked about the Jets plan for free agency. "But judicious, I guess. There are certain places we need to improve on, but obviously the draft is going to give us some of those opportunities. The quarterback position, liked we've talked about. As far as defense, just making sure we can run it back with the guys we have, and then offensively, seeing if we can be judicious in our approach."

Buffalo hasn't had a running back secure over 1,000-yards since LeSean McCoy back in 2017.

Williams finished 2022 with the 11th-most rushing yards and broke the Lions team record with 17 rushing touchdowns.

Despite the outside interest, both Williams and the Lions have mutual interest in coming to terms on a new contract extension.
