Twitter Reacts to Anthony Richardson's Combine Performance
Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson quickly became the mostly polarizing draft prospect to participate in workouts at this year's Scouting Combine.
The 6-foot-4, 244-pound quarterback led all others at his position in the 40-yard dash, broad jump and vertical jump.
His 40-yard dash time of 4.43 caught the attention of the NFL world.
Analysts are now comparing the former Gators quarterback to star Buffalo Bills signal-caller Josh Allen.
In 2022, Richardson went 176-of-327 for 2,549 yards, 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
He also secured 654 yards and nine touchdowns.
In Detroit, many are keen on and aware of Richardson's passing struggles at Florida. The 21-year-old only completed 53.8 percent of his passes last year.
During passing drills, Richardson showcased his arm talent, but was inaccurate at times during intermediate passing drills.
A Lions sports talk host posted on social media, "Anthony Richardson can't hit the out route. And this is who ya'll want?"
With Detroit possessing the No. 6 overall pick, the debate has started online regarding whether Lions general manager Brad Holmes should invest a top pick in a quarterback many consider to be a long-term project.
Detroit head coach Dan Campbell indicated this week that he and Holmes regularly debate where in the draft the Lions should select a quarterback, if the decision is eventually made.
Those opposed to the Lions taking Richardson see him being the next JaMarcus Russell, the former No. 1 overall pick who flamed out of the NFL after only three seasons. Others view him being comparable to Malik Willis, who struggled in early appearances with the Tennessee Titans last season.
Here is a sample of the reaction online to Richardson's workout in Indianapolis.
