The Detroit Lions have upset fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On the first day of the legal tampering period, Detroit general manager Brad Holmes added one of the top defensive backs available on the market.

Cornerback Cameron Sutton is coming off one of his best seasons of his career, and now joins a Lions secondary in need of depth and improved execution on the inside and in the slot.

According to PFF's free-agency guide, "Sutton quietly continued to excel in a Pittsburgh coverage unit that was otherwise very exploitable this season, with 2022 being just his season as a full-time starter on the outside. Sutton signed a two-year, $9 million deal in 2021 that he outplayed in 2022, earning a 71.0 coverage grade and allowing just 411 receiving yards."

Many of the teams interested in the 28-year-old were impressed by his positional versatility, as he has demonstrated an ability to line up in the slot and maintain his coverage responsibilities.

Detroit has needed improvements in the secondary since Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn first arrived in Motown.

With the team playing man coverage at a fairly high rate, Sutton has the ability to also match up well on the outside.

The reaction has been very positive and hopeful among supporters. The Lions' fanbase had been actively waiting for the front office to make impactful roster decisions on the defensive side of the football.

Here is a sample of the reaction online to the Lions adding one of the top free-agent defensive backs on the market.
