Video: Lions Celebrate Winning Division Title
The Detroit Lions are celebrating excitedly their first division title in 30 years.
In a hard-fought contest, safety Ifeatu Melifonwu was able to intercept Nick Mullins to seal the victory, 30-24, at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Mullins tossed four interceptions at inopportune times, giving Detroit's offense numerous chances to march down the field and score points.
After Detroit punted the football to the Vikings late in the fourth-quarter, there was an increased level of anxiety, as Mullins found Justin Jefferson on a deep pass attempt.
After the victory, principal owner Sheila Hamp emerged and excitedly shared the team was celebrating in the locker room.
Among the players sharing videos included Melifonwu, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Isaiah Buggs and Aidan Hutchinson.
Detroit, after winning their 11th game of the season, has secured their first ever home playoff game at Ford Field.
Detroit's young roster has been able to overcome adversity all season, giving the fanbase hope a celebration like is taking place in Minnesota could occur.
The last time the Lions won the division was 1993 and their last playoff appearance was back in 2016.
Unfortunately for the Lions, they only have one playoff victory in the Super Bowl era.
With a front office and coaching staff dedicated to winning and adding talent that is gritty, resilient and not satisfied with simple success, the team is poised to potentially win the division for the next several seasons.
