Dan Campbell Provides Gloomy Injury Update on Lions Veteran Receiver

In this story:
The Detroit Lions got a strong early showing from veteran wide receiver Cedrick Wilson in their preseason game Saturday against the Washington Commanders, but the wideout's day ended in an unfortunate manner.
Wilson left the game one play after making a catch and landing hard on his knee. Head coach Dan Campbell provided an update on the receiver's status after the game.
According to reports, Campbell is "worried" about the prognosis of the injury, but further testing will be more revealing to the actual extent of it.
The Boise State product had back-to-back catches on that series prior to exiting the game. He hauled in a four-yard pass for his first reception, then notched a 17-yard catch on the next play. However, after an incompletion from Josh Dobbs to Tom Kennedy, Wilson hobbled off the field and did not return.
Detroit was able to overcome a slow start to Saturday's game to notch a 17-13 win over the Commanders.
Wilson is a veteran who has been a journeyman over the last few years. Originally a sixth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys out of Boise State, he has suited up for three different teams before landing in Detroit this season.

He played his first three seasons in Dallas beginning in 2018, then landed in Miami for two years. After that, he spent a year in New Orleans before doing a second stint with the Cowboys last season.
In his career, Wilson has notched 126 catches for 1,524 yards and 12 touchdowns. He entered camp as a spring signing by the Lions and is in contention for the team's fifth receiver spot behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Greg Dortch and Isaac TeSlaa.
Campbell also provided injury updates on running backs Jabari Small and Sione Vaki. Small, who rushed three times for 16 yards in Saturday's game, is reportedly in concussion protocol.
Meanwhile, Vaki is dealing with a minor back injury. He had recently returned to practice from a freak injury that resulted in an eye ailment and a broken nose, and with the heavy workload he received in practice this week the Lions elected to hold him out of the game.
Offensive lineman Michael Niese was spotted by reporters exiting the locker room on crutches after he hobbled off the field in the second half. Niese is a versatile offensive lineman who provides depth for the interior with his ability to play center and both guard spots.
