Podcast: What C.J. Gardner-Johnson Injury Means for Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are now dealing with a myriad of injuries, ahead of their Week 3 contest against the Atlanta Falcons.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who emerged as an emotional leader in Detroit's locker room, could miss the remainder of the 2023 NFL season, as it is feared a torn pectoral muscle suffered against the Seahawks at Ford Field could cost the veteran to miss his team's remaining 15 games.
The impact of Gardner-Johnson's loss would be immense, as the 25-year-old safety led the NFL in interceptions last season.
His presence could have served as an example for Kerby Joseph, as he looks to continue his development in his second year with Detroit.
After joining the Lions the talented safety quickly caught the attention of his teammates, as the veteran does not stop talking, when the team is practicing at their Allen Park faciliy.
The latest "Bang The Table" podcast features a conversation with Adham Beydoun regarding the Lions rash of recent injuries and what losing a player of Gardner-Johnson's stature means for Dan Campbell's young squad.
Beydoun explained, "Do I think they can fix it (the defense) in two or three weeks? No. Are they going to have a very friendly matchup, in terms of their secondary not getting exposed versus Atlanta. Yea. Atlanta is a run-heavy team.
"Desmond Ridder can't throw the football. And if he does throw the football on the Lions, then Aaron Glenn better not show up in Detroit the next morning."
Also discussed, how much is Campbell impacting the Lions ability to win games with his late-game decision-making.
