The Detroit Lions were linked to Texas Longhorns defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat in several of the early 2024 NFL mock drafts released this year.

Unfortunately, the talented defensive tackle may have fallen down many draft boards or is no longer considered a target for many general managers after an early morning arrest for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

According to KXAN-TV, "Records show Sweat, 22, was arrested by the Austin Police Department and booked into Travis County Jail at 2:12 p.m. Sunday. Driving while intoxicated is a Class B misdemeanor."

Sweat's run-stopping capabilities likely caught the attention of several scouts and pro-player personnel staffers.

Potentially pairing Sweat with Alim McNeill could have made for a dynamic duo that could stop the run and pressure the quarterback.

As a senior at Texas, Sweat recorded 45 total tackles, including eight for loss, two sacks and four passes defensed.

The 22-year-old recorded five sacks, 17.5 tackles for loss and 13 pass defenses in 51 career college games.

Detroit's front office and coaching staff has made it quite clear they are seeking to avoid problematic players or those who could hurt the reputation of the franchise.

Veteran cornerback Cam Sutton was a player released just 24 hours after it was revealed on social media a warrant was issued for his arrest, stemming from an alleged domestic altercation.

After turning himself in, the 29-year-old was charged with a single misdemeanor.

“After reviewing the evidence, it was appropriate for our office to move forward on misdemeanor domestic battery charges,” Hillsborough State Attorney’s Office spokesperson Erin Maloney wrote in an email to the Tampa Bay Times.

Detroit added veteran tackle DJ Reader in free agency with the hopes his recovery from a torn quad muscle will benefit Aaron Glenn's revamped defensive line unit.
