The Detroit Lions will unveil their new uniforms this week during a season-ticket member event at Ford Field.

On Monday, the New York Jets revealed their new uniforms online to mostly positive reviews.

Popular sports radio host Mike Valenti indicated he is hoping the Lions follow suit and reveal a uniform that can be left alone for the next 20 years.

"Did you see one team has revealed their new uniforms? I hope it is a guide for the Lions. The New York Jets, which are a loser franchise, (their uniforms) are perfection," said Valenti. "The new uniforms, the new helmets, they’re perfect. It’s timeless. The Jets can stay with that for 30 years and it’ll never go out of style and it’ll never be better.”

Valenti, who has been broadcasting in Detroit for multiple decades, is hoping the team does not include the color black in the new design.

“I’m very eager to see what the Lions come up with. We’ve heard Rod Wood’s sound about how it’s the past and a modern take. Okay, that’s fine. First of all, I always laugh when you hear these executives get up, and they act like they have the cure for cancer. ‘Dude, we’re just talking about buying a jersey from a kid.’ But I do hope that the Lions do something timeless," said Valenti. "I’ve never felt like, in my time in this town, whether it was the Stafford rebrand, the Roy Williams black jerseys, then the black trim, then we updated bubbles but it was still bubbles. Even these uniforms felt a little bit arena football. All I want to see when they do this is something they can stick with and it’s timeless.”
