GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay Packers receiver Romeo Doubs had the biggest gain of his NFL career. Then, he made the biggest play of the career.

Doubs entered Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints with 48 career receptions. The longest of those went for 26 yards.

During the third quarter on Sunday, he made a superb catch on a deep pass from Jordan Love for a gain of 30. Doubs lined up in the slot. The man aligned directly over him blitzed, leaving Doubs against safety Tyrann Mathieu. Doubs stutter-stepped, then took his route to the outside and upfield.

“Pre-snap, he was press coverage. Once the ball was snapped, he left,” Doubs said. “I looked a little bit to see if the ball was going to get thrown right on me. In the end, I saw the next man come up and I close-cushioned and the rest was history.”

The Packers didn’t turn that catch into points, but Doubs scored the game-winner on a back-shoulder throw by Love against former Packers corner Isaac Yiadom.

“Trust, man,” Doubs said. “You know, things like that come by, it always starts from practice throughout the week. We work on it all of the time. The first two reps, I’ll give them the credit; I just came down with it on the third one.”

The win improved Green Bay’s record to 2-1. Last week at Atlanta, Green Bay blew a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter. This week, the Packers overcame a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit.

With the Detroit Lions coming to town on Thursday night, there won’t be much time to savor the victory.

“Just enjoy the process is what I can really say,” Doubs said. “Because a week ago, we were up 12 or what not, double-digit points, came out with a ‘L’, there was a lot of conversation. But even with a win like this, does it give us confidence? Absolutely. But, in the end, if you want to be real about everything, we’ve got to close the book and move on.”
