Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau? Packers’ 2024 Schedule Taking Shape
GREEN BAY Wis. – The Green Bay Packers’ 2024 NFL schedule could include Aaron Rodgers’ return to Lambeau Field.
With two games remaining in this year’s schedule, next year’s schedule is starting to crystallize.
Most of the schedule is predetermined. In 2024, the Packers are set to play the NFC West and AFC South. Along with the usual home-and-home matchups against their NFC North rivals, that’s 14 of the 17 games.
The rest of the schedule is based on division finish. Entering Sunday night’s game at the Minnesota Vikings, the Packers are in third place in the NFC North. That means they’d play the third-place teams from the NFC South, NFC East and AFC East.
The New Orleans Saints are in third place in the jumbled NFC South. The New York Giants are in third place in the NFC East. And Rodgers’ Jets are in third place in the AFC East.
“Obviously, it would be fun to play at Lambeau,” Rodgers said during his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. “That would be hyped. It’d be fun to play at Soldier Field, as well, because I had decent success there over the years.”
With the Vikings and Packers sporting 7-8 records and the Bears a game off the pace at 6-9, the Packers could finish second, third or fourth in the NFC North. Thus, plenty’s at stake with the Packers set to close the regular season at Minnesota on Sunday night and at home against Chicago next weekend.
Rodgers vs. Jordan Love in 2024 would be a lot like Rodgers vs. Brett Favre in 2009. Rodgers vs. Love would come in Year 2 with Love as the Packers’ starter; Rodgers vs. Favre came in Year 2 with Rodgers as the Packers’ starter.
In 2009, the Vikings beat the Packers 30-23 at the Metrodome in Week 4. In Week 8, Favre made his return to Lambeau Field. Mostly, he was booed. Loudly. Every time he stepped on the field. It didn’t matter; Favre was 17-of-28 passing for 244 yards and four touchdowns as the Vikings won 38-26.
“There was some cheers, for sure; there were some boos. He played lights out,” Rodgers told McAfee.
As it stands, the Packers would play seven games against projected playoff teams: Detroit Lions (twice as NFC North champion), Jacksonville (AFC South leader), Indianapolis (AFC wild card), San Franciso (NFC West winner), Los Angeles Rams (NFC wild card) and Seattle (NFC wild card).
Here’s the subject-to-change schedule.
