Cooper DeJean, Graham Barton in Latest Packers Mock Drafts
GREEN BAY, Wis. – We’re only midway through February and we’re already at the point of the NFL draft process where it’s mandated by law that at least one mock draft every day has to send Iowa’s Cooper DeJean to the Green Bay Packers.
With the Super Bowl receding into the rearview mirror, here’s a look at the latest and greatest NFL mock drafts.
Sports Illustrated: Iowa DB Cooper DeJean
With NFL free agency approaching, the Packers have holes in the lineup at cornerback, safety and slot. Enter DeJean, who played here, there and everywhere at Iowa.
“DeJean is one of the most versatile and athletic prospects in the entire draft, with the ability to make big plays regardless of where he lines up,” SI’s Luke Easterling wrote.
DeJean was an Iowa legend before setting foot on campus. In 2022, he had five interceptions including three pick-sixes. In 2023, he had two interceptions and a punt-return touchdown.

Josh Edwards went with DeJean, as well. Edwards noted the Packers have used 12 of their last 13 first-round picks on defensive players.
The Ringer: Duke OL Graham Barton
This from Danny Kelly is the perfect sentence to describe Barton: “This year’s ‘ho-hum, not sexy, definitely a first-rounder though’ is definitely Graham Barton, who is as rock steady of an offensive lineman as the NFL draft offers.”
Barton started five games at center in 2020 before taking over at left tackle the final three seasons. According to PFF, he allowed two sacks each of the last two seasons. Can he play left tackle for the Packers, who might be looking for a stud to replace David Bakhtiari? Or would he play right guard in 2024 as the replacement for free agent Jon Runyan, and potentially slide to center in 2025 as the replacement for future free agent Josh Myers?
The measurements at the Scouting Combine will be a big deal.

The Draft Wire (2 Rounds): Duke OL Graham Barton
Curt Popejoy agreed with The Ringer’s Kelly that Barton could be at his best at guard or center.
The second-rounders were used on a safety and a running back. The running back is Tennessee’s Jaylen Wright, who rushed for 1,013 yards (7.4 average) and caught 22 passes during a superb final season. As that average would suggest, he’s a big-play machine. According to PFF, 52.1 percent of his yards came on runs of 15-plus yards, third-best in the draft class. His 4.35 yards after contact per carry ranked second.

Ranking Packers’ Six Biggest Offseason Needs
Fox Sports: Texas DT Byron Murphy
It’s hard to argue with the logic of Fox’s Joel Klatt. The Packers “desperately” need to improve their run defense. That’s undeniable. During Matt LaFleur’s five years as coach, Green Bay is last in the NFL in yards allowed per rushing attempt.
Murphy in 2023 was the Big 12’s Defensive Lineman of the Year and a second-team All-American, as well an all-academic selection the previous two seasons. He started all 14 games in 2023 with 29 tackles, five sacks and 8.5 tackles for losses. Need a fullback? The 305-pounder scored a couple touchdowns, as well.
NFL.com: Clemson CB Nate Wiggins
NFL Network’s analytics expert, Cynthia Frelund, grabbed the 6-foot-2 Wiggins as the complement to Jaire Alexander.
Wiggins is coming off a tremendous final season. According to PFF, he allowed 18-of-41 passing for just 176 yards in 2023. He had two interceptions, eight passes defensed and two forced fumbles. Two of his three career interceptions came against presumptive first-round pick Drake Maye and two of his 14 passes defensed in 2022 came against Jeff Hafley’s Boston College Eagles.
