Jets Become Enormous Favorites In New Rodgers Next-Team Odds
GREEN BAY, Wis. – If Aaron Rodgers is traded by the Green Bay Packers, it seems like it’s the New York Jets or bust.
Sportsbooks agree.
The next-team bet for the four-time MVP quarterback has turned completely lopsided. In new odds posted by BetOnline.ag and SportsBetting.ag on Thursday afternoon, the Jets are -1000 to acquire Rodgers. The Las Vegas Raiders, who had been the favorite throughout February and the start of March, are +500.
What do those numbers mean? By implied probability, the Jets are viewed as a 90.9 percent certainty to land the big fish of the quarterbacking sea. The Raiders are at 16.7 percent.
For a brief time on Feb. 7, the Raiders were -450 – an 81.8 percent probability.
Back to the current odds, the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans are next at +900, and the other potential suitors are far distant: San Francisco 49ers at +1800, Indianapolis Colts at +2500, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots at +3300, Washington Commanders at +5000, and Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans at +6600.
The presumptive Rodgers trade has impacted other odds.
Last week, FanDuel Sportsbook released opening NFC North odds. At the time, the Detroit Lions were +180 to win the division, followed by the Packers at +260, Minnesota Vikings at +300 and Chicago Bears at +350.
In updated odds at FanDuel, the Lions remain the favorites but at +145. The Vikings and Packers have flip-flopped, with Minnesota at +280 and Green Bay at +340, and Chicago is bringing up the rear at +420.
The Packers, who would be looking to reload behind Jordan Love and a bonus draft pick, remain +2500 to win the Super Bowl – exactly where they opened after last month’s Super Bowl. The Jets opened at +2500, as well. Their odds shortened to +1800 and then +1600 on the Rodgers speculation.
At SI Sportsbook, the Packers are +2800 to win the Super Bowl and the Jets are +2200. Those are unchanged since the end of the season.
The NFC North and Super Bowl odds could take an enormous swing if the Detroit Lions land quarterback Lamar Jackson and cornerback Jalen Ramsey. They are the favorites for both, if they change teams.
