Odds for Rodgers’ 2023 Team Continue to Tighten

Assuming he plays, where will Aaron Rodgers take his next NFL snap? New odds were released on Tuesday.
In this story:

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay Packers continue to be the betting favorite to be Aaron Rodgers’ team in 2023, but the odds continue to get closer and closer to a coin flip.

In odds updated on Tuesday morning at DraftKings Sportsbook, the Packers are -110 to be the team for which Aaron Rodgers will “take his next regular-season snap.” That’s little-changed from -125 on Jan. 23.

However, the field is closing in, led by the New York Jets. Thanks to the Jets’ hiring of Nathaniel Hackett as offensive coordinator, the Jets moved from +750 on Jan. 23 to +115 on Jan. 28. In the new odds, the Jets’ odds have shortened a bit to +110.

The reason is obvious: Rodgers won MVPs alongside Hackett in 2020 and 2021. In 2020, before the Packers faced the Jacksonville Jaguars – Hackett’s former team – Rodgers gave a long and ringing endorsement of Hackett that was punctuated with:

“Hack has been a really important part of our culture change and a part of our success on offense. I love him. Hope he doesn’t go anywhere. Unless I do.”

By implied probability, Rodgers-Packers is 52.38 percent while Rodgers-Jets is 47.62 percent.

The Las Vegas Raiders, who are moving on from quarterback Derek Carr and have a high-powered skill-position group led by Rodgers’ former teammate, Davante Adams, remain +750. The Indianapolis Colts (to +750) and Miami Dolphins (to +1000) have seen their odds shorten in two consecutive updates.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers have gone from +1000 to +2000. Why the huge movement? Because the Niners are the new betting favorite to be Tom Brady’s future team.

Following a loss in the NFC Championship Game in which their quarterback depth chart was obliterated by injuries, the 49ers are +150 to land Brady, followed by the Raiders at +175 and Buccaneers at +250. As of Jan. 17, the Bucs were +200, followed by the Raiders at +250 and the 49ers at +350.
