Four-Point Stance

One: By passer rating, Green Bay’s Jordan Love is the best quarterback in the NFL. He leads the NFL with a 123.2 passer rating, is tied for first with three touchdowns, is first outright with an 11.1 percent touchdown rate and is third with 9.07 yards per attempt. Atlanta’s Desmond Ridder is second with a 111.8 passer rating. He’s 15-of-18 passing for a league-best 83.3 percent completion rate, but is 29th in yards (115) and 31st in pass distance (3.5 yards).

Two: A rookie last year, Ridder didn’t throw an interception in four starts in 2022 and didn’t throw one vs. Carolina in Week 1, either. Ridder and the Cowboys’ Dak Prescott are the only quarterbacks since the 1970 merger who started their career with five starts (minimum 14 passes in each game) and zero interceptions.

Three: Let’s not turn Ridder into a legend. The Falcons had 0 net passing yards at halftime against Carolina. Ridder was 8-of-10 passing for 24 yards but took four sacks for minus-24 yards.

Four: On third down vs. Chicago, Love was 7-of-9 passing and moved the chains six times with one touchdown. His 152.8 passer rating on third down is No. 1 in the NFL by a wide margin; Ridder is second at 131.3. Green Bay converted 66.7 percent of the time with its third-down passes. That’s the best mark in the league; only three other teams were better than 50 percent.

Did Packers Coach Matt LaFleur Watch MNF?

“Usually, the Monday night game on in the background, but I’m not usually paying a ton of attention to it. Certainly, the focus is on the Atlanta Falcons. Got a lot of work to do with them, a team that we haven’t played in four years, so there’s going to be a lot of studying that goes into that. Obviously, they’re coming off a big win over Carolina by two scores and there’s a lot of new pieces there, so I’m sure there’s a new excitement around that football team. It’ll be a really tough task going against them.
