GREEN BAY, Wis. – De’Vondre Campbell was among five players who did not practice on Wednesday as the Green Bay Packers started their prep for Sunday’s game at the Carolina Panthers.

Campbell raised eyebrows on Tuesday morning when he posted on X that he was no longer “going out my way anymore and I’m not playing through injuries anymore cause when [sh**] goes wrong they always use it against you.”

Campbell refused to discuss the post when he emerged from the shower during the final moments of the media session.

“I will say, Dre’s a guy that obviously I go back a long time with – all the way back to Atlanta,” coach Matt LaFleur said. “I’ve always respected the man and how he works and how he approaches the game. He pours his heart and soul into this thing. I know it’s frustrating [to be dealing with injuries the past two seasons. Certainly, I think that comes with a lot of frustration if you don’t feel you’re at our best with health reasons.”

LaFleur has talked to Campbell – though not about his social-media post – and will give him the week to get ready for Sunday.

Campbell, who has played in 10 of 14 games and logged 56.9 percent playing time during an injury-plagued season, was not on the final injury report last week but played all but one snap of the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when he aggravated the stringer that kept him out of the Thanksgiving victory at Detroit.

Campbell, receiver Christian Watson (hamstring), receiver Jayden Reed (toe), safety Darnell Savage (shoulder) and left guard Elgton Jenkins (shoulder) also did not practice.

Watson and Savage were inactive against the Buccaneers; Reed and Jenkins played through their injuries.

AJ Dillon, who was out last week with a broken thumb, was back on the practice field, as were fellow running backs Aaron Jones, who made his return from a knee injury last week, and Emanuel Wilson, who has been designated for return from injured reserve.

“We’ll have a better gauge going through this week,” LaFleur said of Dillon.

Cornerback Jaire Alexander practiced, as well. He’s missed the last six games with a shoulder injury even while being limited participation in every practice since the Thursday before the Nov. 19 game against the Chargers.

On Monday, LaFleur called it a “miscalculation” to have not placed Alexander on injured reserve.

With Alexander out again, Eric Stokes not only returned to action but made his first start and played his first defensive snaps since suffering a season-ending foot injury at Detroit on Nov. 6, 2022.

Stokes played 47 of 62 snaps.

“About midway through the third quarter, the legs started getting heavy, everything just started getting heavy,” Stokes said. “So, I had to say, ‘All right, this is my first game back. It’s OK for me to not be out there the whole game. I need my own little time now.’”
