Sportsbook Sets Win Total, Playoff Odds for Packers

With the bulk of NFL free agency complete and the draft a little more than three weeks away, here are the latest NFL odds.
In this story:

GREEN BAY, Wis. – In Aaron Rodgers’ first season as the Green Bay Packers’ starting quarterback, they won six games. In Rodgers’ last season as the Packers’ starter, they won eight games.

How will they fare in Year 1 under Jordan Love? Perhaps somewhere in between.

At least that’s what FanDuel Sportsbook says. Green Bay’s over/under win total has been set at 7.5 wins.

In the NFC North, the win totals are 9.5 for the Detroit Lions, 8.5 for the Minnesota Vikings and 7.5 for the Chicago Bears.

Interestingly, in odds to win the NFC North, the Lions are +130, followed by the Vikings at +310, Bears at +320 and Packers at +410. In the Super Bowl market, on the other hand, the Lions are +2100, the Packers and Vikings are +4000, and the Bears are +6000.

The Packers are +160 to make the playoffs, an implied probability of 38.5 percent.

“It’s going to be a process but it’s going to be exciting for him, for us,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said at last week’s NFL meetings. “I don’t think any quarterback can truly do it on their own in this league. It’s going to be everybody rallying around him and trying to play at their best ability so that he can go out there and perform as good as he possibly can.”

With Rodgers, the Jets are +1600 to win the Super Bowl (seventh-shortest odds), +250 to win the AFC East (second to Buffalo’s +310) and -162 to make the playoffs (implied probability of 61.8 percent), with an over/under of 9.5 wins. The Jets went 7-10 last season behind Zach Wilson and Mike White.

In the NFL MVP race, Rodgers is +1600 (tied for seventh-shortest odds) and Love is +3000. Rodgers – back when he was expected to be Green Bay’s starter – opened at +2500.

Rodgers won MVP in 2020 and 2021 when Nathaniel Hackett was offensive coordinator. Hackett is the new coordinator of the Jets.

“There’s great rapport with the coordinator,” Jets coach Robert Saleh said of Rodgers’ three years alongside Hackett. “There’s really no urgency [to make the trade]. The quarterback is going to understand the system. The quarterback knows it. It’s just a matter of just refining skills and doing all that stuff. So, there’s no hurry on our end.”
