Watch: Highlights From Packers’ Playoff Victory Over Cowboys
GREEN BAY, Wis. – Coach Matt LaFleur was speaking for all Green Bay Packers when he led off his postgame news conference with a three-word sentence.
“That was fun.”
LaFleur’s Packers, big underdogs entering Sunday’s NFC wild-card game at Dallas, crushed the Cowboys 48-32. The two-score final and the Cowboys’ 95-yard advantage hiding the massacre the 93,799 fans in attendance had just witnessed.
“So proud of our guys, just the mindset that they had coming down here. To put on a performance like that, couldn’t be happier for them,” LaFleur continued. “Certainly, we knew it was going to be difficult. Hats off to Dallas making it a game at the end of the game. Bad decision by me by pulling our guys and having to put them back in but, luckily, defensively, P [Preston Smith] making that sack, that was critical and they bailed me out of a bad decision.
“Just couldn’t be happier for our guys. Obviously, really excited about the next opportunity going to San Francisco, playing against one of the best teams in the NFL.”
Jordan Love was sensational once again in delivering what was, by passer rating, one of the greatest postseason quarterbacking performances of all-time and by far better than anything done by Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre.
Aaron Jones once again ran roughshod over the Cowboys with three touchdowns.
Romeo Doubs had his first career 100-yard game – by halftime. And Jaire Alexander and Darnell Savage delivered game-turning interceptions.
“We came into halftime,” LaFleur said, “and I asked the guys, I said, ‘Hey, what’s the score.’ They all said, ‘0-0.’ I know it’s one thing to say it and it’s another thing to go out and do it. Fortunately, we built a lead that was too big to overcome.”
