Watch: Packers Receivers in Slow Motion

Christian Watson is one of the fastest players in the NFL. Here he is in slow motion at Green Bay Packers training camp on Monday.

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay Packers’ receiver corps will look to take the momentum built in Cincinnati into a busy week against the New England Patriots.

The teams will practice against each other on Wednesday and Thursday before squaring off in their second preseason game on Saturday night at Lambeau Field. The Patriots, led by legendary coach Bill Belichick, have one of the top defenses in the NFL.

“It just comes down to being well-rounded,” receiver Christian Watson said after Monday’s practice. “If they’re taking one thing away, you’ve got to be able to do everything else and pick them apart. I think they’re an aggressive and handsy and sound in the fundamentals football team. You’ve just got to be able to keep on chopping. If something doesn’t work, you’ve got to put that behind you and go onto the next play and keep on going.”

With Dre Miller moved to tight end to pick up some of the slack following Tyler Davis’ knee injury, the Packers could be looking to add to their receiver corps, with former Virginia star Keytaon Thompson among a group of players scheduled to work out for the team on Tuesday.

A teammate of impressive Packers rookie Dontayvion Wicks at Virginia, Thompson was second-team all-ACC in 2021, when he caught 78 passes for 990 yards, and third-team all-conference as a sixth-year senior in 2022, when he caught 53 passes for 579 yards.

He spent his first three seasons at Mississippi State playing quarterback.

Thompson went undrafted this year. Before the draft, he measured 6-foot-4 and ran his 40 in 4.66 seconds.
