Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton made his debut on ESPN's First Take earlier today from Tennessee State. To begin his career as a TV pundit, Newton was asked about the Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback situation and what head coach Mike Tomlin should do with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson.

Wlson has yet to play this season due to a calf injury. Meanwhile, Fields has performed well. However, after starting out the year 3-0 the Steelers have lost their last two games, bringing on speculation that Tomlin might put in Wilson to see what he can do. Here's what Newton has to say about that.

Cam Newton on Russell Wilson or Justin Fields

Newton's accuracy translates from football to fooball takes, here. Fields was always going to be a better option for the Steelers given the gap between his level of play (to say nothing of his ceiling) compared to a rapidly-declining Wilson. The Steelers probably won't get much for Wilson, but he's not going to be their QB1 of the future and if they can pick up a sixth or a seventh for Wilson from some quarterback-desperate team it would be a windfall.

No, the Panthers should not call the Steelers about Russell Wilson.
