The Carolina Panthers fell in their preseason opener, 27-0, to the New York Jets. Here are a few quick thoughts from the press box of Bank of America Stadium.

Bryce did what he could

Young got three drives in his first preseason game, two of them resulted in three and outs. The offensive line really let Young down, allowing a sack and three QB hits. If you're trying to find something positive in the outing, you can feel good that Young didn't make bad decisions or put the ball in harms way. Plus, the Jets' front seven is legit and the Panthers aren't at full strength along the line. No, it wasn't an exciting debut, but it also wasn't a discouraging one as far as Bryce is concerned.

Receivers failed to get separation

Four of the first six completions and seven of the first twelve went to a running back or tight end. Starters Adam Thielen and DJ Chark each had one catch a piece, so if you remove them from the equation, only three passes were caught by receivers through three quarters. Just way too many checkdowns against a Jets secondary that was without Sauce Gardner, DJ Reed, Michael Carter, Bryce Hall, Jordan Whitehead, and Adrian Amos.

Not a great day for Corral

Don't be fooled by the numbers. If you just glance at the box score, it would appear that Corral was on his game. But that doesn't tell the whole story. He fumbled the ball twice and left a handful of completions out there by holding onto the ball taking four sacks. On the few misses he did have, he missed badly.
