Injury News: Panthers OL Chandler Zavala Carted Off the Field in Detroit

A scary scene in Detroit.

Carolina Panthers rookie offensive lineman Chandler Zavala was loaded onto a board and was carted off the field in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Zavala was engaged in a block and fell straight down on his stomach. Moments ago, the team tweeted out that it was a neck injury and that Zavala will be transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. Both teams came out onto the field in Detroit to show support for the injured Panther, watching in concern. Zavala did give a thumbs-up to the crowd as he was being carted off.

Zavala was selected in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of NC State and has started all five games for Carolina this season. Cade Mays is now in at left guard for the Panthers.
