Bryce Young, Panthers' Starters Will Play in Regular Season Finale
The Carolina Panthers have one game left in the 2023 season but don't call it a meaningless football game. Interim head coach Chris Tabor does not view it as such and made that very clear during today's post practice press conference when asked if there had been any consideration to rest rookie quarterback Bryce Young.
"No guys, we're playing the season. There's still a lot to play for. I understand about the record and I can understand that you might view it as a throwaway game. It's not a throwaway game. My name and their name is associated with this game. To me, that's very important because at the end of the day, that's all you have is the name on your back."
During the draft process, one of the biggest concerns about Young was his size and whether or not he would be able to take hits at the next level on a weekly basis. At this stage in the game, he's put that concern to bed. He's been sacked nearly 60 times and has only missed one game due to an ankle injury.
"I mean, he's obviously very physically tough," Tabor continued. "I think he's proven that. The other area where he's extremely tough is mentally. My thoughts on him haven't changed at all. He's a tough customer. He's a winner. He works at it. He has all the intangibles and I still like where he's going."
