Cam Newton Believes His Hair Could Be Why He's Still a Free Agent

If NFL teams have a problem with Cam Newton's hair, they need to get over it and give the man a job.

Cam Newton remains a free agent and there's no telling how long it will take for a team to finally give him the call and offer him a spot as a backup.

Newton's best football is behind him, but he is more than capable of being a quality backup and if you look around the league, he would be a far better option than the majority of QB2s in the league.

One thing that could be keeping Cam out of a job? Apparently his hair.

Yes, as ridiculous as it sounds, it seems like some NFL teams have a problem with it for some unknown reason.

“It’s been hinted," Newton said during an interview with Josina Anderson on her podcast Undefined. "And I’m not changing. People have hinted to where they say like, ‘Cam, we want you to go back to the 2015 clean-cut Cam.’ But, that was a different me.” The thing that is always mentioned is, ‘Cam, you’re scaring people with how you look.'”

Cam is right. He shouldn't change. This is professional sports. And Newton isn't the only player out there with long hair. As he later mentioned in the interview, Trevor Lawrence has long hair, so what's the big deal?

I think a lot of it is teams misunderstanding who Cam really is. They believe he's this big personality that would overshadow the starter, causing friction. But that's not the case with Cam whatsoever. I mean, just look at how he handled the situation in his return to Carolina. Before he was named the starter and after he was benched for Sam Darnold, he was a great teammate and helped out the other quarterbacks on the roster, including Sam.
