Corbett to Miss 'Some Regular Season Time'

Carolina will be without its right guard to begin the season.
In this story:

For the majority of the 2022 season, the Carolina Panthers starting offensive line remained intact. That was until the final game of the regular season when guards Brady Christensen (fractured ankle) and Austin Corbett (torn ACL) went down during the win over the New Orleans Saints.

Christensen was seen working out with the team during voluntary minicamp and is expected to be good to go for training camp. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Corbett, who has a much longer road to recovery.

"I don't want to go into the exact timeline," said head coach Frank Reich. "You know, Brady should be good. You know, obviously, Austin is going to be into the season a little bit more. So we'll take that. We'll address that as we get closer with that."

To clarify, "Yes. He will miss some regular season time," Reich told reporters over the weekend.

During the 2023 NFL Draft, the Panthers took North Carolina State guard Chandler Zavala in the fourth round, adding depth to the interior of the o-line unit. Veteran free agent addition Justin McCray is the favorite to replace Corbett in the starting lineup to begin the season with Cade Mays backing him up. Zavala will likely be tabbed the No. 2 guy at left guard behind Brady Christensen.
