Day Three Mock Draft Projections for the Panthers

Some projections for day three of the draft.

Carolina Panthers

Through the first two days of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers have made three selections - QB Bryce Young (R1, PK 1), WR Jonathan Mingo (R2, PK 39), and LB DJ Johnson (RD3, PK 80). Heading into the third and final day of the draft, Carolina is scheduled to only make two more picks.

Before day three gets underway, here are the latest projections for the Panthers.

No. 114: CB Cory Trice (Purdue)

This is a copycat league and what Scott Fitterer has done in this draft is evidence of that. He spent time in Seattle under John Schneider where they drafted a short quarterback (Russell Wilson), a freakishly athletic receiver (DK Metcalf), and liked bigger, longer corners. So far, Fitterer has his short quarterback (Bryce Young), his freakishly athletic receiver (Jonathan Mingo) and now, it's time to get that big, long corner, Cory Trice. Corner isn't a major need but at this point in the draft it's worth taking one, especially when you don't know how Donte Jackson is going to look coming off of that Achilles injury.

No. 145: OL Nick Saldiveri (Old Dominion)

The Panthers considered taking an offensive lineman in the second round, so that tells me they would like to leave this draft with one. Chandler Zavala (NC State) may be an option at 114 if they don't go corner. As for Saldiveri, it's probably wishful thinking that he drops this far but if he does, the Panthers should waste no time turning the card in. He's primarily played right tackle but can kick inside as we saw at the Senior Bowl.
