What the ESPN FPI Says About the Panthers' Chances Against the Vikings

Carolina and Minnesota are desperate to get their first win of the season. Who is favored?

This Sunday, a pair of winless teams will square off against one another as the Carolina Panthers host the Minnesota Vikings at Bank of America Stadium.

According to the ESPN FPI, the Vikings have a 63.9% chance to win this week's game while the Panthers have just a 35.8% chance.

Minnesota has lost three one-score games to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Los Angeles Chargers by a combined 13 points. The defense has surrendered 905 total yards of offense in the last two games and has been gashed in both the pass and run game. Two weeks ago against the Eagles, Minnesota gave up 259 yards on the ground, and in Sunday's loss to L.A., they allowed 405 yards through the air.

On the other hand, the Panthers are desperately searching for an offensive spark. The rushing attack has been non-existent in each of the last two weeks which played a big part in Andy Dalton throwing the ball 58 times in Seattle. The offensive line has allowed 60 pressures this season and is just flat-out getting beat time and time again. The status of rookie QB Bryce Young (ankle) is unknown at this time but with the way the o-line has performed, it may not be a bad thing that he takes another week to recover.
