ESPN's Chris Mortensen Says 'Bryce Young is the Pick'
Every day it's someone new. One minute, C.J. Stroud is "the guy" for the Carolina Panthers at No. 1, the next day Bryce Young is "the guy", then Anthony Richardson garners some attention the next day.
Now, it's back to Bryce Young, at least according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.
"What I'm hearing is that both Mel [Kiper] and Todd [McShay] are going to have to change their mock drafts and that Bryce Young is the pick," Mortensen on a segment of NFL Live earlier this week. "Yes, you connect Frank Reich to C.J. Stroud in terms of the prototype of guy that he's worked with in the past, but they all love Bryce Young. I think I'll quote Adam Schefter who said this reminds him of when the 49ers moved up all the way to three and it was intentional to draft Mac Jones and then changed their mind at the last minute and drafted Trey Lance. And that has not worked out for the 49ers. And I think the Panthers are on Bryce Young at the start and will stick with him when it's time to turn in that card.
"I didn't say the decision has been made because we still have time. But as far as Bryce Young, listen, his size is absolutely the one red flag on him. Otherwise, this is a guy who is magic like I've heard Todd say. Steph Curry is a comparison and oh by the way, it's somebody who was Bryce Young's idol. He's a point guard. He is by far the best processor in this draft."
