Panthers 'Looking to Add' a Pass Rusher
One of the Carolina Panthers' remaining needs is a pass rusher to go opposite Brian Burns.
The team had been linked to Leonard Floyd and Yannick Ngakoue throughout the offseason, but Floyd is no longer available and there is mutual interest between the Bears and Ngakoue, which would leave few options on the table.
GM Scott Fitterer has a lot of trust in the guys in place to step up such as Marquis Haynes Sr., Yetur Gross-Matos, and rookie DJ Johnson. That said, that won't keep him from looking around.
"We like it, but we always need to add more," Fitterer said of the current outside linebacker group. "You can never have enough pass rush. So if there's a pass rusher out there that upgrades our roster, we're going to pursue that. That's just our style. We're aggressive and we're always looking to add."
Some notable names still available include Jadeveon Clowney, Justin Houston, Carlos Dunlap, Robert Quinn, Melvin Ingram III, and Anthony Barr. Most of these free agents are in the final years of their career, so at this stage in the offseason, you're unlikely to find a long-term solution and more of a one-year band-aid.
