Panthers to Host Free Agent WR DJ Chark

Can Carolina finally get some receiver help?
In this story:

Since the trade of DJ Moore to Chicago, the Carolina Panthers have yet to make any additions to the wide receiver room. They met with veteran free agent Adam Thielen earlier this week and now, will host DJ Chark on a visit today, according to Jordan Schultz of the Score.

Chark spent the first four years of his career in Jacksonville before signing with the Detroit Lions last offseason in free agency on a one-year, $10 million deal. Unfortunately, he only appeared in 11 games for Dan Campbell's squad as he dealt with a Grade 2 ankle sprain.

During his last season with the Jaguars in 2021, Chark missed 13 games to an ankle fracture. He also suffered ankle sprains in 2019 and 2020, but thankfully neither kept him on the shelf for an extended period of time. If it weren't for injuries, Chark would be a more sought-after free agent. He has elite speed, can get vertical, and can create separation early in his routes.

In 2019, he notched a 1,000-yard season, bringing in 73 receptions and eight touchdowns. Is he ever going to be a No. 1 receiver? No, probably not. But he's definitely worth the consideration, especially given the lack of depth the Panthers currently have at the position.
