PFF Considers Panthers' O-Line to be 'Middle of the Pack'
The play of the offensive line was one of the biggest reasons why the Panthers turned things around last season and made a late playoff push. Rookie left tackle Ikem Ekwonu improved each week and the line went to a whole new level with Bradley Bozeman taking over the starting center role.
Personally, I believe this group could be a fringe top-10 unit in the league this fall. However, Pro Football Focus thinks otherwise, ranking them as the 16th-best offensive line heading into the 2023 season.
"Carolina is another team banking on internal development and stability paying dividends. The unit climbed from 31st in the rankings to the fringes of the top 10 last season," Sam Monson of PFF states. "Brady Christensen will be on the hot seat after earning a 57.3 PFF grade last year, but rookie Chandler Zavala is now there to provide competition. Taylor Moton allowed just 21 pressures in 17 games and remains one of the best pass-protecting right tackles in football."
I do agree that there is some uncertainty in regard to Christensen at left guard but aside from that, there's a lot of stability along the line. Unfortunately, we probably won't get to see the line at full strength to begin the season as Austin Corbett appears to still have a long road ahead of him recovering from the ACL injury he suffered in Week 18 last season.
