Quick Hits: Plan vs. Jets, Deion Jones Quick Adapting, Hayden Hurst's Versatility + More

Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich met with the media following Sunday's practice.

Additional red zone period

"Got talked into a little overtime. It was good. Things were pretty spirited today and you gotta love that. The guys practiced hard. We had back-to-back pads and yesterday was a long day and then to come back here with that kind of juice and that kind of energy was really good."

Plan for Young this week

"It's pretty much all laid out. I'm not going to go into the details of that just yet. But looking forward to it. The Jets are a really good team. Obviously, they got an elite quarterback, a very talented offense, and one of the better defenses in the NFL, so it'll be a good test for us."

If Bryce Young will play versus the Jets

"Yes, he will play. I do have an idea. I don't want to talk about exactly what that plan is right now, but we've talked about that as coaches. We've got flexibility in that plan and there has to be. We have a general idea of how many plays we want to get through the whole preseason, but that can be adjusted by 10 or 20% depending on how things go."

Deion Jones

"He's been here a short time and we've talked about this as a staff, he's adapted very quickly. I mean it looks like he belongs. He looks good. It looks like he's been here the whole camp."

What he likes about TE Hayden Hurst

"Multi-purpose. Really versatile. Can run the down the field routes, can run the crossing over routes, sail routes. I mean, just athletic enough but still tough enough to block and be on the field on every down. You want a guy who when we're in 11 personnel, you want a tight end who can stay on the field on every down. Hayden's that kind of guy."
