Reich Responds to Rumblings That He Preferred Stroud in Draft Process
Do you remember that video of Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich taking out his cell phone to record C.J. Stroud at his Pro Day in Columbus? Also, the much-debated conversation between Panthers QB coach Josh McCown and Stroud where many thought McCown said, 'Maybe when you live in Charlotte, we'll find a [basketball] court."
Well, over the last couple of weeks, there have been a number of NFL analysts that have brought those moments up in support of their belief that Reich was actually in favor of Stroud in the pre-draft process and that owner David Tepper is the one that wanted Bryce Young.
With the Panthers facing Stroud and the Houston Texans this week, of course, the question was going to be asked. Reich stood firm on Bryce Young being his guy.
"I've always said, I like C.J. Stroud a lot. I liked that whole quarterback draft. I think they were all really good prospects and I think they're all going to have really good NFL careers," Reich said. "My eyes and our eyes were on Bryce Young from start to finish. You look at the film, you talk to the man, you get a sense for the leader, the player, what he is and what he can be and how he fits into what we want to do, we got the guy for us."
