The 33rd Team Suggests the Panthers Trade for Justin Fields

Does Carolina swing a deal for the young QB?

There's a million different ways the Carolina Panthers could go this offseason in regard to the quarterback position. Several names will be linked to the organization, considering Matt Corral and Jacob Eason are the only two quarterbacks under contract.

While many feel Carolina will make a move up in the draft to select one of the top quarterbacks, there is also a unique situation surrounding the team with the first overall pick - the Chicago Bears.

Is Chicago sold on moving into the future with Fields? Or do they believe Bryce Young or perhaps fellow Ohio State Buckeye, C.J. Stroud, gives them a better chance to compete for championships?

If it is the latter, then Chicago will be able to move Fields and presumably get a first round pick in return.

In The 33rd Team's latest mock draft, they project a trade featuring Carolina making a move for Fields.

The Chicago Bears pull off a shocking trade sending Justin Fields to the Carolina Panthers for the ninth pick of the draft, and here they pick [Bryce] Young. The Bears feel like Young is just too talented to pass up and hand the keys to the franchise to the rookie.

To be honest, if that's all it takes for this deal to happen, it's not a bad trade for either side. Carolina gets a young quarterback, with experience, that has a high upside and didn't have to mortgage its entire draft capital to upgrade the position. As for Chicago, they reset the clock on the quarterback position, better aligning with their window to win and get an additional top-10 pick in this year's draft.

In two years as the Bears' starter, Fields has completed 59% of his passes and has thrown for 4,112 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. He's also ran for 1,563 yards and 10 touchdowns.
