Three Teams That Could Attempt to Trade for Brian Burns

A few landing spots that make sense for Burns if Carolina decides to make a move.

Carolina doesn't want to part ways with its top pass rusher Brian Burns, but it might be something they consider in the two weeks leading up to the trade deadline.

Burns and the team were deep in contract negotiations for several months leading up to the season but failed to come close to a new deal. Burns is playing under his fifth-year option, meaning he will become a free agent next season. A player of Burns' caliber should without question net a first-round pick and then some. He's one of the game's top pass rushers and it's rare that top-tier players at that position become available.

So, if Carolina does make Burns available for trade, who could be in on him? Here are three teams that make a lot of sense.

Baltimore Ravens

David Ojabo is on injured reserve and Odafe Oweh has been dealing with injuries of his own. Justin Madubuike has been terrific inside, but they could really benefit from having a strong presence off the edge.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags pass rush is non-existent outside of Josh Allen, who has seven of the team's 12 sacks. Jacksonville has to be able to apply more consistent pressure on the quarterback if they want to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Los Angeles Rams

Last season, the Rams made an offer to Carolina for Burns so we know the interest is there. They are quietly 3-3 and they know their window to win is closing. The Rams could use some pass rush help as they are averaging just 1.7 sacks per game which ranks 28th in the NFL. For the first time in years, they have a first-round pick and could use it as part of this effort to land Burns.
